I'm really enjoying my exercise with Rachel T...which makes me enjoy exercising even when I'm doing something that she's not leading. I can still hear her voice encouraging me and asking me if I'm keeping my back straight and core tight :)

There were three days I walked (1 mile on Tuesday and Friday, 1.5 Saturday). The extra knee pain of walking is not worth it. Back to elliptical.

Words of Encouragement

Stay tough and keep kicking butt!!!

We may be far from where we want to be but we are closer than where we were 9 weeks ago.

Tortoise Winning

Thank you all for your help—working with you on this motivation challenge has been really good for me

Keep making sure to pat yourself on the back for the little things and keep it up. Soon enough, people will be noticing that you're getting closer to your bigger goals.

Abigail Arenda

Keep repeating to yourself, "Everyday, in every way, I'm getting better and better." It will become a self-fulfilling prophecy!

My failures can motivate me to be more successful than my successes. Because I usually learn more from my failures.

What's Helpful to You?

Small changes lead to huge results; eventually.
-The Lighthouse Keeper
If you can't do what you planned to do, just do SOMETHING!
-GlowWorm
Tried my first "interval training" session and powered through it. Just needed to set the time! I actually finished it faster than I thought. Completed five sets of five in 80 minutes. Burned more calories at a higher heart rate.
-The Lighthouse Keeper
I'm going to toot Rachel T's horn again. If you're not exercising with her or haven't tried it, give it a shot. She will make an hour of exercise go by very quickly and the entire rest of the day you'll feel better. Sore, but a very good sore!!! We all have to do it, might as well do it with someone that will make you laugh while your doing it correctly!!!
-Abigail Arenda
Surprisingly, the cicadas are nice to listen to when I'm gardening outside--as long as they aren't too close to me! I hope others are enjoying this once every 17-year adventure.
-Bluebells
If I give myself permission to eat something w higher caloric value - it takes away the urgency to have it. Therefore, it's more likely to enjoy in smaller amount or not eat it at all.

Team Challenge Update

Lace up your hiking boots, we have another trail to tackle! This round, our team challenge is to virtually hike the Pacific Crest Trail. That is 2,300 grueling miles that we will cover (virtually) as a team. Every 10 minutes of exercise you do will help us get 1 mile further along on our journey, and ANY exercise bout of 5 minutes or more counts! You will need your passports for this hike. The Pacific Crest Trail runs from Mexico to Canada. Click here to learn more about the Pacific Crest Trail.

Another week, another 221.4 miles in the books. This brings our grand total to 1872.9 miles hiked. We have (finally) made it through California and are well into Oregon.  Next stop, Washington State! With over 80% of the hike complete, we have just over 428 miles to go. To put your progress into perspective, this equates to over 18,720 minutes of exercise completed by this fantastic team.

After taking a break at Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, we took a slight detour this week to take in the beauty of  Klamath Falls Oregon. The views (as always) are breathtaking. Check out the picutres of our beutiful journey below.
