All-or-Nothing Thinking: How To Keep It From Derailing Your Efforts

Most people engage in all-or-nothing thinking (also known as black-and-white thinking) in one way or another. With weight loss and lifestyle change, it can take many forms: either following your plan perfectly or thinking you’re a “failure,” thinking of foods as either “good” or “bad,” feeling you’re either a “good” or a “bad” person depending on what you eat, among many others. This type of thinking can be counterproductive as well as demoralizing. Join clinical psychologist Rachel Burnett, PhD to learn some ideas for healthier approaches.

Saturday, January 12th

Healthy Hearty Soups

Get to cooking (and tasting) with Matthew D’Aria RD, PTA! Matthew will demonstrate how to make an easy, hearty and nutrient dense soup that will keep your warm and full all winter. Group discussion to follow.

Saturday, January 19th

A Key Skill for Sustained Weight Loss: Self-Care

Do you sometimes struggle to get enough sleep, keep needed medical appointments, have time with friends, or have a creative outlet? Recognizing and addressing your self-care needs is KEY to achieving sustained weight loss. Many people have trouble in this area due to the stresses of difficult jobs, family demands, long commutes, and limited energy, Some of us never really learned how to take care of our needs, or don’t believe we deserve good care. Join clinical psychologist, Rachel Burnett, PhD, to help identify and strengthen your self-care skills.

Saturday, January 26th

Walk Strong – How to Minimize Pain with Movement and Walking

Did you know that knee, hip, foot, and ankle pain can be caused or exacerbated by how you walk and/or the type of shoe you wear? Join clinical exercise physiologist Rachel Trope and physical therapy assistant (and dietician) Matthew D’Aria as they explore methods for minimizing lower body joint pain.

Saturday Scoop is held every Saturday in the group room from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. It is free for active comprehensive program patients, and $35.00 for all others.
